Alex Duncan was at a concert at SUNY Albany in 2003 when he was attacked by hip hop star Busta Rhymes and his bodyguard. Christine Mancision was at a wedding with her boyfriend at the Hyatt Hotel in New Jersey when she suffered an injury because of another partier. Mancision, who lives in the Upper West Side of Manhattan, NY, said she was dancing when another person grabbed her to dance with her. She said the drunken man spun her and she went flying onto the floor. She was injured when she hit the floor. Auvryne Scarlett, a 52 year old Manhattan NY resident, was working on Valentine’s Day when he caused a car accident. Scarlett had epilepsy and had stopped taken his prescription medication two weeks prior to the accident. A 40 foot power boat Hustler Classic that held 7 passengers crashed in to the marsh in Long Island near the Wantagh Parkway. The group had just been at Bracco’s Clam and Oyster Bar in Freeport, NY buying seafood to take home. Freeport has many water accessible bars and restaurants on Woodcleft Canal. It is unclear at this time if alcohol was the cause of the crash. Nassau County Police believe the boat’s driver was disoriented by the night’s full moon and got off course, and when he tried to correct the direction of the boat, he hit the marsh. Upon impact, the passengers were thrown off of the boat and onto the marsh. Every passenger on the boat suffered injury. Three people suffered a fatal injury. Two of the passengers sustained injury to the neck, one passenger fractured both legs and the other sustained an injury to the head. They were all airlifted to Nassau University Medical Center; located at 2201 Hempstead Turnpike, East Meadow NY 11554. The four surviving passengers were listed in stable condition.

A construction worker from a private construction company that had been hired to work on the Bowling Green Subway Station in New York City was hit in the head by a pipe. The station is located in Manhattan’s busy Financial District. Both the 4 and 5 trains stop there. Witnesses say the workers were lowering pipes into the station when one fell loose. It hit the 27 year old worker in the head and knocked him unconscious. Paramedics arrived on the scene and took the man away on a stretcher. John Manley, a former Queens County resident, recently had surgery after two years of serious medical conditions. Manley had been battling pneumonia, coughs, colds and had trouble breathing. His doctors were unable to explain why. One of Manley’s doctors even thought they were going to have to remove one of his lungs. He refused, and found another doctor at Duke University in North Carolina. The doctor preformed an extractment surgery to find a plastic utensil lodged in his lung. It was 1” long and bore the word “fashioned” and the letters “A, M, B, U, R, G, E, R” which is part of the fast food chains slogan on their plastic cutlery “Old fashioned hamburgers”. Officials have not reported if Manley thinks the utensil became lodged in his throat while he was in New York or North Carolina, where he now resides.

The Throgs Neck Bridge has recently been undergoing construction due to a fire that caused damage to it. Two men were part of a group of construction workers that were on site near 150th
St. and Rockaway Blvd. in Queens, NY. Without warning, Yolanda Silvera, a 27 Long Island NY resident; came flying through the Springfield Gardens construction site. The workers did not have a chance to move away from the car. Silvera hit Robert Keller, 32, and Michael Hudson, 33, while driving at 60 miles per hour. Both men suffered serious injury. Keller had to have surgery of his ankle. Hudson’s injury was so severe he had to have one of his legs amputated. Silvera admitted to Queens County Police that she had smoked crack before she was driving. She also admitted she caused the crash after running through a red light. She has numerous charges pending including second degree vehicular assault and DWI. Both men are listed in stable condition.
