Two students at SUNY Farmingdale campus; located at 2350 Broadhollow Rd, Farmingdale, NY 11735; suffered injury after a garbage truck accidentally ran them over. Suffolk County Police state that a Jamaica Ash garbage truck had been backing up when he struck the students. Reports indicate the driver did not see them but stopped when he heard screaming. It was then he realized the accident occurred. One student suffered an immediate, fatal injury. The other was taken to Nassau University Medical Center; located at 2201 Hempstead Turnpike, East Meadow, NY 11554. The student was treated for a fractured pelvis. The driver of the garbage truck was also taken to the hospital and treated for emotional distress. Suffolk County Police will not be pressing charges against the driver. There was no trace of drug possession at the scene.
