At about two a.m., Police Officer Donald Santamaria was on DWI patrol when he saw a vehicle speeding on Montauk Highway in Lindenhurst. The speeding vehicle was a 2000 Nissan Maxima. When Santamaria attempted to halt the car, the driver continued to speed faster when eventually the officer lost the vehicle.

The alleged driver of the vehicle was a seventeen year old Copiague teen, Edward Figuereo. He now faces charges of driving while intoxicated from drugs, escaping from the police, speeding, and leaving the crime scene.He was very lucky that he did nolt sustain any personal injury as a result of the car accident Figuereo was kept at the First Precinct station house for arraignment on Wednesday at First District Court in Central Islip, NY.
