Christmas crash kills two, alcohol involved,

A man could be sentenced to prison after a Christmas Day crash in which he was at fault killed two people, reports a New York Injury Lawyer. The Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the accident which occurred early Christmas morning when the driver of an SUV was said to have veered too far to the right, causing the accident that left two people dead.   The Lawyer stated in his report that the driver was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and issued a DUI. He was arrested and being held on a $51,000 cash bond. A trial is being scheduled for the man. A family member of one of the victims of the crash expressed her forgiveness for the accident, saying that she understood that it was not intentional and that she felt sorry for the driver of the SUV who caused the crash.   The holiday season is notorious for accidents involving alcohol. Settlement reached in civil suit against psychiatrist

A Tufts Medical Center psychiatrist settled a civil suit for $2.5 million. The money was put into trusts for two children whose parents are in jail and young sister is dead, a New York Injury Lawyer stated.

The civil suit settlement occurred after parents of a four-year-old girl were convicted of murdering her. She was overdosed with Clonidine. The psychiatrist prescribed the medication to the child.

The girl was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder at two-years-old. The psychiatrist prescribed Clonidine for ADHD and Depakote for bipolar disorder. Neighbors were concerned about the amount of pills the child was taking up until the night she died. The psychiatrist relied on a written report provided by the child’s parents each week.

Falling Rains and Walls Cause Injuries in April 2011

Near the end of last month, a 38-year-old engineer died of a spinal injury when a part of the Freedom Park wall collapsed on his car he had been sitting in while talking on his cell phone. He leaves behind a wife and a 2-year-old daughter.

The mechanical engineer by training was one of the partners in a firm he and his childhood friend started seven years previously – SP Engineers and Contractors. His friend and business partner call the incident “an unbearable loss.” He’s lost a friend he had had for more than two decades.

The engineer was meeting his friends and had been looking for a parking spot; because of the rain, the task was more difficult than normal. He had been on his way to meet his business partner and two other friends as he did almost every day. When he didn’t show, his partner tried to call him, but didn’t get an answer. When they heard the wall had fallen, all three who were to meet him rushed to the scene and found him in his car crushed under the debris.

Upgraded Charges Possible after Fatality in Woman’s DUI Case

A 33-year-old woman was driving herself and three other people home from a funeral when she lost control of her car and it overturned and crashed.

The woman was driving at a high rate of speed when she swerved to avoid a stopped vehicle. When she swerved, the car flipped and struck a tree and light pole. A mother and her son were trapped in the backseat and declared dead at the scene. The third passenger was not injured.

The driver was initially charged with a misdemeanor DUI, but when she appeared in Traffic Court, she was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated DWI involving a death. A New York Injury Lawyer reveals that the charges were upgraded after lab tests revealed her DNA was found on the driver’s side air bag; this proved she was at the wheel and drunk, which caused the death of two people. Her BAC was 0.17, more than twice the legal limit.
